AFP Calls to Strengthen Border Security Amid Aurora Apartment Clash
DENVER, CO – Due to the failures of the current administration to secure the border, dangerous gang members and other criminals have been allowed to enter into the country illegally. The Denver Post reported a gang-related kidnapping and torture event in Aurora, Colorado.
AFP State Director Jesse Mallory released the following statement:
“Congress must prioritize providing the resources necessary to secure the border and swiftly remove threats to national security and violent criminals. A secure border is essential not only for national security and upholding the rule of law, but to safeguard the rights of American citizens.”
BACKGROUND:
AFP has devised the Four Pillars for Border Security and Visa Reform as a framework for Congress to pass any border security and immigration law. Our plan expands upon the need for consequence-based policies where people who do not qualify for humanitarian relief are swiftly removed. These changes in policy must be met with better infrastructure at the border—a combination of walls in strategic locations, modernized surveillance technology to swiftly identify border crossers, and enough border patrol agents to apprehend them. We also urge Congress to make changes to our legal immigration system that will reduce illegal immigration and allow border patrol to focus on stopping violent offenders from entering into the country. Reforming the current system will not only make our country safer it will allow the U.S. to remain competitive on the world stage by allowing us to attract top talent from around the world.
