Protect the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights for Colorado

Your right to vote on tax increases in Colorado is under threat.

Earlier this year, a group of legislators introduced House Joint Resolution 1023 (HJR-1023), aiming to challenge the constitutionality of the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR). This resolution sought to enable the General Assembly to file a lawsuit that could potentially eliminate the requirement for voter approval of tax increases.

Key sponsors of HJR-1023 include:

  • Representative Manny Rutinel (HD32)
  • Representative Lorena García (HD35)
  • Senator Kyle Mullica (SD24)

These legislators are actively working to remove your direct say in how much you are taxed. Thankfully, it failed in the House… this time.

TABOR is more than a policy; it’s a safeguard ensuring that any tax increase receives direct voter approval. It embodies fiscal responsibility and upholds the principle that government should be accountable to its citizens.

By signing our online letter, you send a clear message to your legislators: uphold TABOR and respect the will of the voters.

Say No to the Special Session

Denver politicians are pushing for a Special Session-  not to fix problems, but to RAISE YOUR TAXES.

That’s right:  instead of respecting your hard-earned dollars, they could spend over $150,000 of taxpayer money just to meet to figure out how to TAKE EVEN MORE from YOUR WALLET.

This isn’t leadership-it’s a reckless game with your finances.

While families across Colorado are tightening their belts, lawmakers want to throw a TAXPAYER-FUNDED TANTRUM to hike taxes.   Enough is Enough!

Call your State Legislators and the Governor TODAY.

Tell them loud and clear:

NO SPECIAL SESSION.  NO NEW TAXES.  NO MORE GAMES

Editorial: Not a budget crisis in Colorado, just a slight tightening

January 6, 2025

We’d like to correct the record. Colorado is not facing a financial crisis. Rather, the state government is growing at a good pace, fueled by a healthy economy, a financially prudent governor who saved during years of plenty and sound tax policy decisions.
